Interesting Business. Without this industry, US citizens would not have access to working devices from phones to refrigerators. Yes, I'm aware of China's imports for electronics.

The traffic from Georgetown to here in the morning and back to Georgetown in the late afternoon definitely sucks. I wouldn't consider working here unless you have millions and millions of dollars and you're just working here for fun then that's a totally different side of the story. That's because you have enough money to survive without a job if you were to get laid off or terminated from here. Just like Motorola/Freescale/NXP semiconductor, this place does lay off a lot of people. They have already laid off most of their employees during the economic recession of 2008 and 2009. This place started off as AMD before it spun off into Spansion in 2003 and got bought out by Cypress in early 2015. The original fabs closed down when it was still AMD. This place did have good benefits when it was AMD. The work environment here is very similar to Motorola. AMD and Motorola was a very booming industry from the 70s all the way up to the early 2000s and then made a downturn. The semiconductor industry isn't like what it used to be back in the old days. This place is now a dying industry and I wouldn't be surprised it closes down. Many of the tech manufacturing jobs have been getting outsourced to other countries overseas. Don't choose this place to work unless you're not worried about money or you're just working here for fun. If you want to make a real living but don't want to go through any student loan debts or you're not fit for college or university then get into a trade union. For example, you can't outsource a plumber. You won't find a semiconductor fab in every city and state like you would for a plumber job. There's more plumber jobs than semiconductor fabs. Or better yet, become an entrepreneur if you have a very creative idea for a business.

Cypress is a great place to work! I'm an engineer and this is the best job I've ever had.
